This year ArkeFly celebrates its 5th anniversary as an Airline.
It was five years ago that the airline TUI Netherlands started by taking over the Holland Exel vessels. Their first flight was on April 21 ArkeFly to Luxor and Hurghada. May 2nd , 2005, was their first flight from Amsterdam to Curacao and on November 4, 2005 the first flight to Aruba. TUI Netherlands, the parent company of ArkeFly is thus the leading Dutch tour operator in Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles.
This was reinforced when one year later (on November 4th , 2006) the first flight to Bonaire was executed. At the start there were technical problems which caused delays, but those days are now far back. Meanwhile the on-time performance is often higher than the average realized at Schiphol. ArkeFly now flies to over 60 destinations worldwide. Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are important destinations for TUI. TUI is the market leader on the islands for their packages and it is their wish of course to hold that position or rather to build on. Currently ArkeFly flies five times a week between the Netherlands and Aruba / Curacao / Bonaire. In the summer this will be extended to 6 times a week.
Much has happened in the last 5 years. The ArkeFly Sales Office was located at Curacao Hato Airport, but moved in September 2007 to Schottegatweg East. With a modern style, knew look to provide its passengers a much greater service. To offer the same service to the passengers in Aruba, a Sales Office was also opened in Aruba in mid-June 2010. In 2007, they renewed their fleet with their first new Boeing 737-800 (followed in 2009 with the two other sets) right from the aircraft factory. ArkeFly is now awaiting the extradition of the new transatlantic aircraft.
ArkeFly was the first company to introduce the 3rd class concept. In 2008 ArkeFly received the Netherlands innovative prize for their pre seating product. To book a preferred seat, check in online and book a duo seat (empty chair next to her own seat) is also possible from the Antilles and Aruba for some time already.
ArkeFly’s 5th anniversary will be celebrated all out! Next to specials for the agents and partners there will be activities throughout the year where the customer is the big winner. To support the festivities the ArkeFly logo will temporarily be adjusted with reference to the five year anniversary. The slogan "ArkeFly daar zit je goed" will be replaced for the occasion by “ArkeFly 5 years young! ". The first action of the anniversary is a coloring action. The coloring picture will be distributed in the newspapers and at their Sales Office. Anyone who delivers the colored picture at to the Arkefly Sales Office receives a gift from ArkeFly.
