Commissioner David Dick and representatives of CHATA, CTB, UNA and the Island Council visited the premises of University of Central Florida (UCF) under the guidance of Associate Professor & Asso
ciate Director Mr. Robertico Croes Ph.D. on December 11-12, 2009.
ciate Director Mr. Robertico Croes Ph.D. on December 11-12, 2009.Purpose of the visit of the Curacao delegation was focused on possibilities of cooperation with UCF in regards to educational programs, executive & excellence trainings, exchange & scholarship programs, research on development, impact and performance of tourism in Curacao with the UCF sub division “ Rosen College of Hospitality Management”.
In the introduction meeting the group brainstormed on possibilities of the UCF and the possible needs of Curacao.
The Curacao delegation met also with the Interim Associate Dean, Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Dick Pope Sr. Institute for Tourism Studies- part of the Rosen College.
UCF offered the Curacao delegation a thorough site inspection of UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management and dorms, but also of the UCF main campus located in Orlando, Florida in which Bachelors, Masters as well as Phd. Programs are being ran which positioned UCF in the best top 10 nationwide and the top 3 Universities with the most published papers and researches with an amount of 53,000 students.
The Curacao delegation agreed upon interest in a long term relationship with UFC, but will per 2010 start a concrete research starting with a visit of the UFC delegation to do a quick scan on Curacao, using their feedback on the Curacao Tourism Masterplan to be submitted mid January.
After the quick scan, possibilities will be explored on long term cooperation w/r to research training for the appointed educational entity in Curacao to execute researches connected to constant online feedback from the UFC with focus on education, logistics and tourism.
