CHATA Public Policy Agenda 2010


Public-Private Partnership
CHATA will push for the implementation of an MOU for a Public-Private  Partnership for Tourism Development between CTDF and CHATA.

Tourism Master Plan
CHATA will support and monitor the execution of the Tourism Master Plan 2010-2014 for sustainable development of tourism in Curacao.

Funding
CHATA will play an active role with CTB in the public-private sector funding of tourism development through the establishment of a Tourism Marketing, Airlift and Product Development Fund. 

Marketing
CHATA will be the driving force for private sector marketing of the island, coordinate marketing actions for the sector with CTB, facilitate marketing discussion with members and tourism partners, provide private sector marketing strategies for the Curacao Marketing Plan, monitor marketing outcomes with CTB, be our members’ primary source for marketing information. 

Airlift
CHATA will push for an airlift strategy and policy in favor of sustainable tourism development.

Human Resources
CHATA will be the private sector driving force for human resource development in the hospitality and tourism sector through the Curacao Hospitality Training Foundation (CHTF) and the Academy Hotel (AHC).

Ground Transportation
CHATA will push for a ground transportation policy and a restructuring of public transportation.

Safety and Security
CHATA is to push for public-private sector cooperation in tourism safety and security in major tourism areas.

Environment
CHATA will push for an environmental policy for the sustainable development of our natural resources and environment.

Communication
CHATA will improve internal and external communication and general awareness amongst members and the general public.

 

About CHATA

History & Goals

 

History

The Curaçao Hotel Association was established on April 3, 1967. In 1982 the Constitution was amended to change the name to Curaçao Hotel and Tourism Association (CHATA), to allow the participation of non-hotel tourism partners.
In 1998 the name was changed to Curaçao Hospitality And Tourism Association (CHATA) to illustrate the development of the association towards becoming the representative organization for the entire hospitality and tourism industry in Curaçao.

At present, CHATA's membership includes hotels and apartments, airlines, car rentals, restaurants, touroperators and destination management, attractions, the airport, the ports authority and ports services, industry and trade development, World Trade Center, advertising and publishing, banking, insurance, training and consultancy, resort development, dive operators, shops and other tourism related businesses.

CHATA's Purpose is to:
  • Provide a tourism forum for its members
  • Promote cooperation among its members
  • Assist in promoting business for its members
  • Foster goodwill towards the tourism industry
  • Encourage fair and harmonious labour relations
  • Support human recource development in tourism
  • Advocate legislation beneficial to the tourism industry

Goals

CHATA's Long-Range Goals:

CHATA's long-range goals encompass its three to five year direction. These goals are outcome-oriented statements that lead CHATA towards its envisioned future. The goals can be divided in an Internal Goal and an External Goal. These goals will need to be accomplished, if CHATA is to fully achieve its three to five year quest.

Internal Goal:

CHATA will be the unifying force for the hospitality and tourism industry and its members' primary source for industry information, knowledge exchange, and business services.

External Goal:

CHATA will be the proactive public policy advocate for creating a favorable business environment and the driving force for marketing and source of information for the hospitality and tourism industry.
